Veterans Memorial Trail -
A Tribute to Our Nation's Heroes
On June 6, 2024, The Colony, Texas, proudly held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the Veterans Memorial Trail, a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have served our nation. Spanning 1.18 miles, this trail is much more than a scenic route for walking, running, or cycling—it's a powerful reminder of the valor and sacrifices of our armed forces.

Honoring Our Military Branches
The trail features six beautifully crafted stone monuments dedicated to each branch of the military, adorned with their respective insignias and creeds. Alongside these, visitors will find fascinating historical facts that breathe life into the stories of these service branches. These monuments serve as enduring tributes to the bravery and dedication of our nation's defenders.
Medals of Valor and Remembrance
In addition to the service branch monuments, the trail honors Medal of Honor and Purple Heart recipients, as well as those who were Prisoners of War or Missing in Action (POW/MIA). These solemn tributes provide a space for reflection, ensuring that the heroism of these individuals is never forgotten.
American Legion Holley-Riddle Post 21
At the trailhead, a lead monument stands in honor of the American Legion Holley-Riddle Post 21. This monument not only tells the story of Post 21's history but also highlights the organization's unwavering mission to support veterans and their families in our community. It is a testament to the camaraderie and ongoing service of Post 21 members.
A Path for Reflection and Healing
As visitors walk, run, or ride along the Veterans Memorial Trail, they are invited to embark on a journey through history and heroism. Whether taking a leisurely stroll or participating in more vigorous physical activity, the trail offers a unique opportunity for reflection and healing. With each step, visitors can connect with the powerful stories of bravery and dedication conveyed by the monuments. The trail also offers a chance for individuals to replicate military-style runs and rucks, adding an extra layer of physical challenge for those who seek it.
